Low- to No-Cost Ways to Boost Your Holiday Sales

Posted 11/13/2009 Holiday Program Tips

Howell, Mich., Nov. 13, 2009: According to BIGresearch, consumers do not think the recession is over so it is no surprise that this is the holiday season of the "Bargain Hunter." While free shipping and deep-discount offers will always be popular with this crowd, here are some ideas that will help you get their attention and increase sales without breaking the bank:

  • Run a special one-day "Cyber Monday" promotion. About 100 million people are expected to shop online for "Cyber Monday" 2009 (Nov. 30, 2009). Not only has "Cyber Monday" grown in popularity with consumers, it has with retailers. In fact, half of all Internet retailers surveyed by Shop.org said "Cyber Monday" was their biggest sales day last holiday season!
  • Have adequate inventory to sell - and communicate it to customers! According to the National Retail Federation, 41% of all retailers will cut back on inventory this holiday season. Any unexpected uptick in consumer demand will easily wipe out the competition's stock and create an opportunity for you! As consumers are aware of this situation, 9 out of 10 consumers surveyed by BIGresearch said "knowing that the product was available to ship immediately" was important to them.
  • Ensure your brand has a social networking presence. Social networking sites have become increasingly popular with consumers and marketers. Facebook and Twitter combined have nearly 350 million registered users and marketers have been growing their brand presence on these sites throughout the year. In addition to using these sites as a unique way to communicate promotions, brands need to consider them for their word-of-mouth value. According to Shop.org, consumers plan to turn to these sites when researching products to purchase this holiday season.

Whatever marketing plans you have this holiday season, be sure to communicate them to your Datapak Account Manager to ensure that your program is fulfilled without a hitch!
